What Is a Myers Cocktail?
A Myers Cocktail is an intravenous vitamin infusion designed to enhance the immune system, help reduce fatigue, help with seasonal allergies, and reduce symptoms of asthma and fibromyalgia. It was named after John Myers, a physician in Maryland who used nutrient infusions to treat those with chronic conditions.
The Myers Cocktail works by increasing the blood concentration of different essential minerals and vitamins beyond what you can do when you supplement orally. For example, when Vitamin C is given intravenously, it can reach blood concentration levels 50 times higher than what can be done when given orally. There are many conditions and illnesses that are associated with digestive disturbances, such as indigestion and bloating, and people with these conditions can’t absorb the nutrients they need. There are also diseases that cause the body to use nutrients at a faster rate and need more for healing. When nutrients like the Myers Cocktail are given intravenously, they bypass the digestive system in order to kick start the cells and healing may begin.
